Privacy policy
This policy explains how we look after your personal information. We keep it simple, and we only ask for what we need. Last updated: 24 October 2026.
Who we are
iCan Thinking is a trading name of Marcus Thomlinson Consultancy, run by Marcus Thomlinson as a sole trader. We are the controller of your personal information, which means we decide how and why it is used. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Address: Marine Point, West Parade, Worthing, BN11 5EE. ICO registration number: ZC126076. Email: info@icanthinking.com
What we collect
What we collect depends on how you use iCan Thinking.
- When you join iCan Start or a waitlist on this website: your first name, your email address, what brings you here, and your marketing consent.
- When you create an iCan app account or become a member or client: your name, email address, postal address, and, if you choose to give it, your date of birth (optional). We use your date of birth only so we can send you a happy birthday message. We also keep what you choose to add to the app, such as habits, goals, journal entries, community posts and coaching notes.
- When you pay: your payment details go to our payment provider, Stripe, and are used only to process the payment. We do not hold your card or bank details ourselves.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider handles basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
Why we use it, and our legal reason
- To send you emails you asked for (taster lessons, tips and course news). Our reason is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To provide your account, courses, community and coaching, and to take payment. Our reason is that we need it to carry out our contract with you.
- To send you a birthday message. Our reason is your consent, given when you share your date of birth.
- To keep our systems secure and our records in order. Our reasons are our legitimate interests in running a safe service, and our legal duty to keep accounting records.
We never sell your personal information.
Where your information is kept and who we share it with
The personal information we hold ourselves, including what you give us inside the iCan app and community, is kept on our own private server, and it is backed up three times. We also use the trusted providers below to run our website, send emails and take payments, and each one only receives what it needs to do its job.
- Cloudflare hosts and protects this website.
- MailerLite sends our marketing emails to the people who signed up for them.
- Resend sends account and service emails from the app.
- Vercel serves the iCan app to your browser.
- 20i hosts our business email.
- Stripe processes our payments. Your card details go to Stripe, and we never see or store them.
Some of these providers may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure the transfer is covered by the protections the UK GDPR requires. We may also share information if the law requires us to.
Marketing emails
We only send marketing emails to people who ticked the box to say yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us at info@icanthinking.com. We will stop straight away.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The iCan app uses only the small amounts of browser storage it needs to keep you signed in and remember your settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while you are a member, and for up to 12 months after you leave, unless the law says we must keep it longer. Accounting records are kept for six years. If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we keep just enough information to make sure we do not email you again.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- ask for your information in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time
To use any of these rights, email info@icanthinking.com. We will reply within one month.
Children
iCan Thinking is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the changes matter, we will tell you by email.
